Since its foundation in 1967, the Federal Institute Of Public Health (BIÖG) – until December 2023 known as Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) – has been pursuing the goal of preventing health risks and supporting health-promoting lifestyles. It is tasked with developing principles and guidelines for the content and methods of practical health education, training and further education of those working in the field of health education and information, coordinating and strengthening health information and health education in Germany, and cooperating with other countries.
